The 2024 Paris Olympics; an accumulation of four years of hard work, determination, perseverance, and peak athleticism or the athlete special edition of Love Island?
With proposals straight from a Disney movie, and gold medal celebrations embodying the lyrics of Taylor Swift herself, the 2024 Olympics did not disappoint.
Shortly after breaking the world record for the Men’s Pole Vault in an astonishing 6.25m, Armand Duplantis, was recorded by several news organisations, as well as tens of fans running over to his Girlfriend, Desire Inglander. Inglander radiated pure excitement, with her permanent smile stretching from ear to ear. Duplantis, also replicated this excitement, expressing relief and happiness all in one. Tik Tok obviously went crazy over the ordeal, and only increased the global obsession with the mysterious Olympic village. Some creators event went as far as selecting events, they believe they would have the most chance of qualifying for the LA 2028 games.
Tracking back to the opening ceremony, or rather Episode 1 of Paris 2024: The City of Love, Italian High jumper Gianmarco Tamberi was vigorously waving his country’s flag down the river Seine, when his wedding ring, slipped off his finger, and off the side of the boat. Initially, it seemed it was a tragedy, but for Tamberi, it was an opportunity for romance. Putting a positive twist on the situation, he stated that he couldn’t have imagined a better place to have lost the ring. It was the perfect excuse for the pair to renew their vows, and for his wife to even throw in her own wedding ring; so that they will be together forever.
In complete contrast to the happy Italian couple, Czechia’s Katerina Siniakova and Tomas Machac who competed in the Mixed Tennis doubles, just weeks before the start of the games, had unfortunately parted ways. But very professionally, put their personal life aside, and successfully secured the gold medal for their country. Much to the surprise of the audience, the pair shared a kiss in celebration, and sparked much inquiry among viewers, with one reporter even asking if the pair were back together. Siniakova replied “That’s our personal life, so you don’t need to know that,” “We like when you are confused.”
Overall, it is safe to say that the Paris Olympics produced impeccable performances, as well as some interesting and unexpected displays of affection. What’s to come in LA 2028? Only a short four years until the release of the much-anticipated Season 2.
