The World’s Greatest Shave is happening THIS WEDNESDAY, with a Crazy Hat Day alongside it to support those fighting leukemia. A card writing stall will also be open throughout the week in the Branwhite center foyer where you can write an encouraging message to someone battling cancer.
In preparation for this special week, the Service Team thought it’d be a good idea to interview one of the participants…
“Tell us a little bit about yourself, what is your name and what year are you in?”
“My name is Ethan Wan and I am in year eleven.”
“And so why are you participating in the World’s Greatest Shave?”
“I am participating because I would like to represent all my family members who have been affected by cancer in the past. Specifically, both my grandmothers have had cancer, and one is dealing with it currently. And so, I would just like to support and represent them. “
“Why do you think the world’s greatest shave matters?”
“I think it matters because it raises money for people with leukemia and allows people who are suffering from it to get better and get well and hopefully safely come out the other side.”
“So, how do you relate personally to this cause?”
“My grandmother on my dad’s side had lung cancer quite a few years ago and luckily, she is really stubborn and she fought through and survived that. But now it is affecting my grandmother on my Mum’s side and luckily as well she is also stubborn and so far, beating it right now.”
“And what would you say to other people to encourage them to brave the shave?”
“I would say that saving your hair isn’t that big of a sacrifice, it’s just hair and eventually it all grows back.”
“Thanks Ethan. We are praying for your grandmother as she fights cancer and your support for this cause is greatly appreciated.”
Come and support Ethan – and many other great participants – as they brave the shave on Wednesday the 9th of April, showing solidarity for those fighting Leukemia.
