Words cannot encapsulate my inherent grief at this moment. It is the lowest of times, for the opening of the Sydney metro extension from Chatswood to Sydenham has been delayed.
Stripped of our August 4th opening, we will no longer be able to experience such joys. I don’t know how hard it is to release a train line on time, although based on Transport NSW’s history, it seems to be a pretty hard thing to do (looking at you, light rail). You would think going horrendously over budget would always give you an on-time release – key word “you would think”.
Turns out throwing billions of dollars into a hole doesn’t actually leave you with enough to bribe the rail regulators – also, who the heck do the rail regulators think they are! They have one rail line to regulate every like 8 years and even then they can’t do it properly and just give the people what they want.
Absolutely ludicrous, I will be sulking in my room for the remainder of the month, and filling in an Illness and Misadventure form to appeal for an extension on my trial.

Word on the grapevine is that the Unions stopped the regulators from going into the Metro to do safety checks and there are some unsubstantiated claims that the ‘alleged’ electric shock one of the workers received never actually happened. All part of the Unions flexing their muscles when the current Labour government do not bend to their demands. And they say we live in a democracy? Where does the political control and power really live in state parliament?
