Meet Cassie (@cassiesbooktok/@cassiesbookss), a 21-year-old content creator who is popular on TikTok, Instagram and YouTube for her videos about books and pop culture. She talks regularly about her reading journey and her most recommended series to read and watch. She and her fans find it funny that she never really leaves her room.
Meet Nick (n1ckwilkins), a well-known 21-year-old internet star who does daily vlogs with his family across various social media platforms. He laughs about being single and loves to interact with his fans through the comment sections of his videos. He is funny, entertaining and loves a good old yap.
Both Nick and Cassie joke over the fact that they are single and have never been in a romantic relationship before. Nick lives in Colorado, America and Cassie lives in Canada.
It started on Snapchat Stories, where mutual followers of Nick and Cassie would ship them. Telling them to stop complaining about being single and get together instead. This raised a lot of attention from both Nick and Cassie’s fans. Eventually, this idea of the two of them dating moved from just snapchat to all other socials.
On the 27th Of January Nick decided he had to do something about the constant tags he was getting. The day before Cassie posted a video about wanting to present TikTok with a boyfriend but she didn’t have one, which fans had a lot to say about. Nick was tagged so many times he made a response video. He replied to her video, simply asking how many more times she was going to make videos like this because Cassie definitely knew about how much attention the ship was getting.
This started a chain of response videos. Cassie responded to Nick’s original video by acknowledging the ship, but she didn’t know what to say about it. Nick replied saying that she should say “what’s up, Nick”. Cassie came back and said the now much-loved line of “what’s cooking good looking?”. This started the trending audio to Anna of The North’s Lovers with the audio of the phrases over the top. Fans loved that the song lyrics sounded like they were saying Cassie followed by Nick rather than “I can’t see, can’t see it”. This started a phenomenon of edits of the couple who were given the ship name of #nassie.
But don’t worry, the back-and-forth videos didn’t stop there. After a virtual dinner date between the two where their siblings played waiter roles, Nick took a step further in their relationship. He asked Cassie to go out with him and a couple days later to be his Valentine. Luckily for Nick (and the rest of us Nassie lovers) Cassie said “Yes”. This led to reels of them individually preparing for the date and Valentine’s Day shopping for one another. After the confirmation of the date, fans of the ship, started ‘auditioning’ to do things for the date. There have been cooking, writing and photography trials. None of this was taken seriously by Nick or Cassie but more of a fun way for their followers to interact.
Last week, Nick posted a video of him seemingly on a plane. This made fans go crazy, speculating that he was going to Canada to see Cassie. There were teaser from both Influencers about being together. The same hotel room they were filming in, Cassie wearing a jumper Nick had, and a hand or arm here and there in the videos.
During the agonising time we spent waiting for the official announcement of them being together, a fan found saw them in public and pictures of the two of them together began circulating. This excited followers but we were ultimately still waiting for an official post from them to completely prove it.
It was finally revealed that, this Saturday, they were in fact together. Nick posted a flower that he gave to her and Cassie revealed it with a video of him picking her up and spinning her around. Since then, there have been several videos of them together. They both looked very happy and the two of them look very cute together.
