In Hollywood today it’s hard to navigate what’s real and what’s not. Scandals, staged events, and feuds all frequently occur. However, one thing that the media especially focuses on is romance in the entertainment industry. It’s difficult to apprehend whether couples in Hollywood are genuine or staging their “love” to be the next big thing and get people talking about them. So, let’s talk about two couples in the spotlight who deserve to be mentioned.   

1. Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively 

Ryan Reynolds is known for his sarcastic attitude and wit, but it’s even funnier to see how he acts towards his wife Blake Lively and how she responds to it. They’re known for trolling each other constantly online. For example, in August 2021 Ryan posted a photo of him and Blake in which he accidentally cut her earrings out. He then quickly reposted the photo with her earrings, with the caption “Posting this again because I cut out my wife’s cute earrings. She trained me better than this. Sorry if I let anyone down”.   

The two first appeared together when working on the Green Lantern movie in 2010. Their relationship blossomed from there. They tied the knot in 2012 and welcomed four children into their lives. They tell funny stories about their kids and even joke about each other’s parenting.  

In an interview with David Letterman on his late-night show Ryan Reynolds said “I used to say to Blake, I would take a bullet for you. I could never love anything as much as I love you. ‘I would say that to my wife. And the second I looked in that baby’s eyes, I knew in that exact moment that if we were ever under attack, I would use my wife as a human shield to protect that baby”. (haha) 

What is refreshing about this start couple is their genuine expressions of love for each other frequently when doing speeches at events. Ryan Reynolds earned an Icon Award recently and gave a heartfelt tribute to his three daughters and wife in which he stated, “Blake and my girls, you are quite literally my heart, hope, and happiness, I joke that my family exhausts me, but you give me more strength than any man can possibly deserve”.   

2. Tom Holland and Zendaya 

Fans were obsessed with their relationship since the beginning, they starred alongside each other in the Spiderman franchise where they began their romance. Fans assumed they were together due to their behaviour in interviews. Especially in an interview where Zendaya was bobbing her leg showing signs of anxiety and instinctively Tom reached over and rested his hand on her knee to reassure her. Although Zendaya didn’t ever speak about how she felt during the interview she said how she feels about working in the entertainment industry. She told GQ in January 2021 “I remember my stylist was like, ‘You come off kind of cold. People think you’re mean because you don’t talk,’ when really I just was too nervous.”  

Their relationship was truly brought to the surface when they were caught kissing in a car by the paparazzi. Then they began attending more events together and posting each other on social media. One of the fans’ favourite timestamps of their relationship was when they both posted birthday messages on Instagram for each other. Tom Holland on September 1st posted a photo of him and Zendaya with the caption “My MJ, have the happiest of birthdays. Gimme a call when you’re up xx.” Zendaya reciprocated on June 1st, posting a black and white photo of the pair captioned “Happiest of birthdays to the one who makes me the happiest”.  

Another rumour that sparked about the couple was that they got engaged after only just being public about dating. Zendaya had posted a photo showing her bright-coloured phone case but that’s not what fans focused on. She was also wearing a massive Dimond ring causing the media to go wild. After a lot of speculation, people saying Zendaya refused Tom Holland’s proposal Zendaya cleared up the fact the ring was actually on her right hand, and it was just Instagram’s weird habit of reversing photos.
